Color Play 10

Color Play 10 has now been released at Scrap Art Studio!  For those of you unfamiliar with Color Plays, they are a monthly collaboration between designers.  Each of us create little packs of scrap art that are color coordinated.  You can purchase each piece at a cheap price to combine one gorgeous art kit.  I say "art" because the designers at SAS are so artistically talented and we primarily focus on art journaling.

New CU Products Plus FREEBIE Time!

I can't tell you how much designing stash I have...well, stashed away lol.  I obtain and/or create items as I design, so things tend to pile up.   I'm taking some time to get it all organized and packaged.  It's a perfect time while I'm on a designing brain block lol!

Here are a few more products for your designing needs.  I have some cardboard papers, which I love to use as they add a nice, but subtle texture to your papers.  Great for "painting" them or using with patterns.  I also have two packs of craft flowers.  I LOVE my craft flowers.  They just add a little bit of extra color and pop to your designs and layouts...giving that "real" paper scrap feel.  And, I have two new Photoshop brushes.  One pack are grungy textures, which are wonderful in adding interest to papers and elements.  The other is yet another pack of watercolor brushes.  These are more splats, drips and sprays.  I pretty much use these types of watercolor brushes in all my designs.

An Art Journal Accident

When I'm creating a kit, I usually have loads of ideas already in my head on what and how I want to create things.  While making my "She" art journal kit.  I had several different ideas in my head and this time I had to break it all down into notes.

I first did a quick sketch thinking that this is what I wanted to do.  I ended up doing something different, of course.  On that sketch, every time I had an idea of what I wanted to create or had a little theme, I would write it down on that paper.  Until eventually it looks like this:

Now, I'm usually way more organized than this, with neat little lists when I do need to take notes, but for some reason, this little piece of paper took on a life of it's own.  It wasn't until later, when I was done with She and looking back at my notes that I realized that this little paper became a little piece of art all on it's own and unintentionally!

My next thoughts are, should I add color and bring it to artistic life or leave it as is?  Just goes to show what you can turn into an art journal page, even by accident lol!

She...A New Art Journaling Adventure

Well, after a few more days of cold air blasts lol, Summer has finally set in here in Texas. It's warm, sunny and I have been working in my garden trying to bring it back to life.
